Phase 1: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

*We have made substantial progress since this page was created. We will be releasing some of this progress soon.*

The first project of Defunctland VR is the Magic Kingdom’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. We came to the decision to feature this attraction due to its simple ride architecture, and its slow moving animatronics.

Our workflow for the project is simple. The animatronics and models are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are then exported as .obj files and rigged for animation. Once these are all completed, we will place them in the scene one at a time, animate them and the camera, and export them in virtual reality. The following are models that are being worked on or are completed.

The Nautilus (Under Construction)

The Nautilus submarine model is still being modeled by Greg Butler, so it is currently a rough skeleton. The model was also based off of a different version of the sub, which will be fixed soon.

Air Pump (Requires Texturing)

The air pump is seen from the 3:10 to 3:18 mark in the video below.

The model, which is fully rigged and ready for animation, was created by Matt W. It still needs to be textured.
